Manufacturing Process of the C92 Tape Ball
The C92 Tape Ball is engineered for durability, bounce, and performance, crafted through a meticulous process that combines precision machinery with skilled craftsmanship. Produced primarily in Sialkot, Pakistan, each C92 Tape Ball undergoes several stages—from raw material preparation to final quality inspection.
1. Rubber Core Preparation
Crushing and Mixing
The process begins with raw natural rubber, which is crushed and mixed with sulfur and chemical accelerators. This mixture forms a dough-like compound that is both elastic and durable—essential qualities for a high-performance tape ball.
Sheet Formation
The rubber dough is rolled into rectangular sheets using precision molds. These sheets are then cut into square-shaped pieces, each of which will serve as the base for the tape ball’s core.
2. Molding and Shaping
Hydraulic Molding
Each rubber square is placed into a hydraulic pressing machine. The machine compresses the rubber into two hemispherical halves, forming the outer shell of the ball.
Trimming and Finishing
After molding, excess material is trimmed, and the hemispheres are refined to achieve a uniform and balanced shape, which is crucial for the ball’s aerodynamic behavior.
3. Core Assembly and Curing
Joining the Halves
The two molded hemispheres are joined using a strong rubber-based adhesive, forming the complete core of the C92 Tape Ball.
Heat Curing
The ball is then subjected to a controlled heat curing process, which solidifies the bond and enhances the core’s resilience, bounce, and durability.
4. Tape Layer Application
Unlike traditional felt-covered tennis balls, the C92 Tape Ball is wrapped in high-quality tape, specifically designed for optimal grip and surface texture.
Tape Wrapping
A high-grip, wear-resistant tape is wrapped around the entire rubber core. This tape gives the C92 its signature smooth yet tacky surface, ideal for cricket-based usage.
Stripe Marking and Branding
For improved visibility and branding, a white stripe is added along with any brand markings or logos.
5. Final Finishing and Packaging
Surface Polishing
After tape application, the ball undergoes surface polishing to remove any imperfections and ensure a clean, professional finish.
Packaging
Each C92 Tape Ball is individually inspected and packaged. While traditional tennis balls are stored in pressurized cans, tape balls are typically packaged in sets or shrink-wraps, depending on order specifications.
6. Quality Control
Shape and Bounce Testing
Each C92 Tape Ball goes through strict quality control checks, ensuring consistent roundness, bounce, and surface finish.
Durability and Performance Checks
Samples from each production batch are tested for durability and playability, simulating real-game conditions to guarantee top-tier performance.
